Computer Engineering (Classe L-8) Our three year Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering produces professionals capable of the design, implementation and management of modern software applications and computer systems. The course is aimed at those who aspire to become computer engineers capable of tackling and solving complex problems through the combination of a solid scientific foundation and advanced technical skills. A Comprehensive and Flexible Educational Path In the first year, students acquire a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and computer science, which are essential for understanding and addressing engineering challenges. The program then focuses on core disciplines of computer engineering, with particular emphasis on:Computer architectures and digital systems – understanding hardware functionality and designing complex systems.Programming and software engineering – from object-oriented programming to data structures algorithms for efficient information management.Databases and web technologies – designing and implementing information systems and distributed applications.Operating systems and computer networks – managing distributed systems and communication infrastructures.Automation and signal theory – principles for controlling and processing information. The program also provides applied knowledge in areas relevant to the region, such as industrial, chemical, and biomedical technologies, paving the way for professional opportunities in innovative sectors such as medicine, environmental monitoring, and process automation.Classes are complemented by practical exercises and laboratory activities, enabling students to apply their knowledge directly and develop design and organizational skills. Some courses in the second and third years are also offered in English, promoting international mobility and preparation for a global work environment. A Modern and Inclusive Study Experience Currently, the program has open enrollment and does not require mandatory attendance, offering flexibility for those who work or have other commitments. Students can opt for part-time enrollment, allowing them to complete their studies over a longer period without being considered behind schedule.Initial support courses ("zero courses") are available to align basic skills and facilitate entry into the university program. By the end of the first year, students must certify a B2 level of English, a requirement for graduation, through initiatives agreed upon with the university's language center or accredited external organizations. Career Opportunities Graduates in Computer Engineering find employment in a wide range of roles within the digital sector and beyond. Key career paths include:Software and web developer for desktop, cloud, and mobile applications.Data-centric disciplines such as Data Engineer, Data Analyst or Database ManagerDesigner and manager of computer networks and distributed systems.Specialist in cybersecurity and data protection.Technician operating in industrial, chemical, biomedical, and environmental sectors, where digital technologies are increasingly central.Graduates can take the State Exam to register as Junior Engineers and pursue further studies with a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering or first-level Master's programs, further expanding career opportunities. A Degree Which Looks to the Future Becoming a computer engineer means being at the forefront of technological innovation. Our graduates are equipped to tackle the challenges of digital evolution and contribute to designing the technologies that will shape tomorrow's society: increasingly intelligent information systems, secure and high-performing networks, advanced artificial intelligence applications, automation, and large-scale data management. For detailed information on the study plan, consult the manifesto. For the academic year 2025/2026, admission to the program is open, and enrollment is open from August 1, 2025.
