Relations with Companies

The Third Mission activities of the Department of Engineering aim to enhance the value of research for economic and social development by promoting technology transfer, public engagement, and continuing education. The main objective is to connect academic expertise with the local production system in order to foster engineering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Key Third Mission Activities of the Department of Engineering:

  • Technology Transfer: enhancement of research results and intellectual or industrial property through patents and collaboration with companies. A liaison office has been established to support companies interested in partnerships aimed at technology transfer on strategic products or processes.
  • Academic Entrepreneurship: encouragement of the creation of entrepreneurial initiatives such as spin-offs or start-ups.
  • Public Engagement: organization of events, seminars, exhibitions, and science communication initiatives for the broader community.
  • Continuing Education: professional development courses, master’s programs, and lifelong learning activities for professionals.
  • Regional Development: interaction with local authorities and businesses to promote cultural and social growth.

A dedicated help desk is available for all companies with specific needs that can be addressed through the high-value academic expertise provided by the Department of Engineering. The goal is to generate measurable impact (not just relationships), create employment opportunities, and at the same time strengthen the University’s Third Mission evaluation.
